Kevin Kriegel has spent over 30 years as a performer, conductor, and music educator. He most recently was a choral lecturer at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he conducted the advanced treble ensemble Bella Voce and taught conducting and piano for music education majors.

Prior to that position, Kevin was Director of Choral Activities at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona where he conducted the Concert Choir, Community Choir, Chamber Singers, and Vocal Jazz ensemble. He also taught conducting, choral methods, diction, and voice. Under his leadership, the Glendale Community College choirs have performed several major works including Mozart’s Requiem and Vesperae solennes de confessore, Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, Faure’s Requiem, Haydn’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Schubert’s Mass in G. Kevin has also served on faculty at Augustana College, Quincy University, and Idaho State University, where he prepared the choirs for a concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and a special performance with Kathryn Grayson.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Kevin began his tenure with the Grammy Award-winning Phoenix Chorale in 2007. From 2014-2019 he served the Chorale as Assistant Conductor. As a tenor in the Chorale, Kevin has appeared on the Chorale’s Grammy-winning recording, Rachmaninoff’s All-night Vigil, and on Northern Lights: Choral works of Ola Gjeilo. Additional highlights with the Chorale include performing at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Incheon Choral Festival in Seoul, South Korea, and singing at the 2010 ACDA convention in Seattle. He is currently the artistic director of the Madison Chamber Choir and sings professionally with the Madison Choral Project.

An active member of the American Choral Director’s Association, Chorus America, and the National Association for Music Education, Kevin has served as the Community Choir Repertoire and Standards Chair for AzACDA and was mostly recently the editor of WCDA’s publication The Voice. He has conducted High School Regional Honor Choirs across the United States and has been an adjudicator and clinician for choir festivals throughout the Midwest and Southwest. He recently conducted the Central and Southwest High School Regional Honor Choirs in Phoenix, and the Western State Colorado University Choral Festival in Colorado.

Kevin received his DMA and MA degrees in Choral Conducting from the University of Iowa under the supervision of William Hatcher, Richard Bloesch, and Timothy Stalter. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in K-12 Vocal Music Education from Central College in Pella, Iowa under the supervision of David Williams, Anne Petrie, and Davis Folkerts. During his graduate studies at the University of Iowa, Kevin was director of the Old Gold Singers.
