
Madison Leischner
Madison Leischner, clarinetist, enjoys a multifaceted musical life in the greater Madison area. Maddie has a passion for teaching, and maintains a private studio in Oregon, WI for students of all ages and ability levels in addition to being appointed as a Lecturer in the Mead Witter School of Music in 2024. Maddie is a part of the Capitol City Band Association management team, where they help oversee the music library, personnel, fundraising, and logistics. She also frequently performs with the Capitol City Band during the summer concert series.
Maddie has enjoyed collaborating with other musicians through a wide variety of chamber music, and was recently named a winner of the Irving Shain woodwind duo competition alongside pianist Changyue Liu in 2023. Maddie is a founding member of the Driftless Reed Quintet, one of many chamber ensembles formed while at UW-Madison.
Maddie earned her Master of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison under the tutelage of Alicia Lee. She received Bachelors degrees in clarinet performance and music education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with J. David Harris (clarinet), and Elizabeth Peterson and Linda Moorhouse (conducting, rehearsal technique).
A native of small-town Illinois and the only musician in their family, Maddie is devoted to creating accessible musical experiences for all, regardless of age, ability, or background.
