Grace Kim is an undergraduate junior majoring in Cello Performance (B.M.) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She currently studies cello with Dr. James Waldo and chamber music with Prof. Parry Karp. During her freshman and sophomore years, she studied with Prof. Uri Vardi. She has also worked with Johannes Moser, Alban Gerhardt, and Thomas Mesa in masterclass settings. This past summer, she attended the International Cello Institute and the Northern Lights Chamber Music Institute. Grace was a finalist in the 2021 UW–Madison Concerto Competition and the Milwaukee Symphony’s 2020 Stars of Tomorrow Auditions. She also won first prize in the 2019 Bolz Young Artist Competition, in which she performed as soloist with the Madison Symphony in a live broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television and Radio.

Grace is a co-principal cellist of the UW–Madison Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Perlman Piano Trio. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching beginner cello students as an instructor in the Community Music Lessons program at UW–Madison.
