Dr. Caitlin Jones is a professional percussionist who has an active career as a performer and educator. This season, she will be performing recitals as a soloist and also as a member of the Harnsberger/Jones Duo in South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. In 2018, Caitlin was the marimba soloist for the American premiere of Roumen Boyadjieff, Jr.’s Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra with the Cleveland Orchestra of Tennessee. She recently performed this work for the second time in America with full orchestra in October 2021. In 2020, she gave the world premiere of The Long Road for solo marimba by Andy Harnsberger, and professionally recorded this work with GreenHaus Productions. In May of 2023, she gave her 20th live performance of the piece.

Caitlin also recorded the landmark Mvt. III, “Four-Part Invention,” from Lukas Ligeti’s Thinking Songs with GreenHaus Productions, as well as Andy Harnsberger’s marimba duo In the Midst of Darkness. Her YouTube channel focuses on solo percussion and chamber music and has amassed over 300,000 views. She has presented at Percussive Arts Society Days of Percussion and throughout the US on various topics, including health and wellness for musicians. Caitlin has performed in various orchestras including recent seasons with the Knoxville Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Augusta Symphony, and the South Carolina Philharmonic.

Caitlin was noted as an “Emerging Leader” by the Percussive Arts Society in 2016 and made her debut performance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in 2019. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Florida, Master of Music from Lee University, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of South Carolina. Caitlin is currently endorsed by Malletech Instruments and teaches at Lee University.
