Johannes Brahms’ Academic Overture is a smorgasbord of student songs full of chorales, fun, and academic poise. Similarly, Carl Orff sets music to texts from Medieval poetry in his famous Carmina Burana. In this huge choral-orchestral work, the vocal soloists and the choirs sing contemplations on fate, musings on love, and celebrations of spring.
