Born in Chesterfield, VA, Matthew Driver has performed across the country among festivals, performances, competitions and accompanying a variety of artists. He began piano studies at the age of nine and through careful watch and the support of family he continued his studies all the way to the college level. He gave his first public performance at the age of nine and has been performing ever since. He performed at festivals, including the Green Mountain Music Festival, and Dance West VA, where he has been a faculty member teaching music, judge, and playing for dance classes.

Along with performing, Matthew has taught students at UNCSA as a graduate teaching assistant. Where his students have gone off to win competitions within North Carolina, along with receiving a full ride to a university. He is passionate about the impact of music in the community. He was asked to be a part of an Alzheimer’s research study through Wake Forest university where he will play music to help study the effects of Alzheimers on the brain.

Matthew graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University (B.M.), Masters of Music, and Performance Diploma with highest honors from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Wisconsin–Madison as a Teaching assistant, teaching the undergraduate piano lab courses, and accompanying for a variety of musicians.
