Riley Smith (DMA ABD) is a classical guitarist with over a decade of performing and teaching experience. Drawn to the guitar from a young age, he quickly became enamored with the instrument—a passion that has guided his artistic and academic journey. He has studied under world-renowned pedagogues René Izquierdo, and Dr. Andrew Zohn, earning degrees in Guitar Performance from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee (BFA, 2020) and Columbus State University (MM, 2022).
Driven by his passion for both performance and education, Riley has taught privately and at a range of public and private institutions, including Carver Elementary and Arts Magnet School, where he served as a full-time guitar instructor, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. At UW, he is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree under Professor Javier Calderon. Alongside his doctoral research, he maintains an active performance and teaching schedule. Riley resides in Madison, Wisconsin, with his wife, Daniella, and their son.
