Matthew Endres

Teaching Faculty, Drum Set, Jazz History, and the UW Marching Band Percussion Coordinator

Dr. Matthew Endres is a proudly endorsed by Remo drumheads and Vater drumsticks. Endres joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017, where he teaches Drum Set, Jazz History, and is the Percussion Coordinator for the UW Marching Band Drumline.

He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, and both his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance and Ethnomusicology from the University of Illinois.

Over the past decade, Dr. Endres has been an active adjudicator at music festivals and competitions throughout the United States. As both a bandleader and sideman, he has performed on national and international stages and contributed to numerous acclaimed recordings. Throughout his career, Dr. Endres has collaborated with an array of celebrated artists, including Doc Severinsen, Robert Irving III, Rufus Reid, Brad Leali, Chris Brubeck, Charles McPherson, Frank Gambale, Marquis Hill, Sharel Cassity, Tom Garling, Greg Ward, Michael Dudley, Victor Garcia, Michael Blum, Oliver Nelson Jr., Jim Pugh, Jeff Halsey, Peter Dominguez, Dave Pietro, Grammy Award winner Charles “Chip” McNeill, Ron Bridgewater, Dave D’Angelo, Carlos Vega, Larry Gray, Glenn Wilson, Richard Drexler, Mark Colby, Alex Graham, Tom Lippincott, Clark Gibson, Tito Carrillo and Grammy Award winner John “Chip” Stephens.
