CBDNA – North Central Division Conference
Welcome to UW–Madison!
We are excited for you to join us in April for the CBDNA/NBA Divisional Conference. The Hamel Music Center and the Mead Witter Foundation Concert Hall are wonderful facilities that we are eager to share with you. In order to ensure a successful performance, please review the information on this page. Each ensemble has a Google Drive folder where you will be able to upload all necessary information regarding your performance including you ensemble information sheet. You will also find a task list for you to use at your convenience.
Please submit this information by March 11th.
If you have any questions, please contact aaron.levine@wisc.edu
COVID-19 Protocols
As of March 1st, there is no mask mandate in place for Madison or Dane County. The campus mask mandate will expire on March 12th. While we are optimistic that no mandates will be in effect during CBDNA, please be aware that should circumstances change again, you may be required to perform with masks, bell covers, or both. We will keep you apprised of any updates, but with the ever-changing nature of this pandemic, we encourage you to remain prepared for all contingencies.
Hamel Music Center
All performances will take place in the Mead Witter Foundation Concert Hall. Each ensemble will also have access to the hall for a 1-hour rehearsal in advance of their performance. The stage is roughly 44′ in the center x 61′ across at the front. The Hall includes a balcony, choral loft, and wings suitable for off-stage performance. All ensembles will have access to 1 large green room, and at least 2 small dressing rooms for conductors/guest artists. Each ensemble will receive an unmastered recording of their performance.
Percussion Instruments
The Mead Witter School of Music will provide the following percussion instruments for performing ensembles:
• Grand Piano
• Timpani
• Marimba
• Vibraphone
• Xylophones
• Tams/Gongs
• Glockenspiel
• Chimes
If you will be supplementing with your own percussion equipment, coordination of equipment unloading and storage and truck parking will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. The loading dock at the Hamel Music Center has lift as well as standard dock access, so any truck will be able to unload easily. The percussion coordinator for the Conference is Michael Walling, who can be reached at mtwalling@wisc.edu.
Parking and Logistics
Once we have completed details from all ensembles, we will send each ensemble an information packet with details including load/unload times, loading docks schedules, maps, parking logistics, and other information.
One important note regarding parking: Due to limited parking resources on campus, we are unable to guarantee parking for buses and large vehicles near the Hamel Music Center. Please be prepared to have all drivers of vehicles remain with their vehicle for the duration of your time at the HMC.
