Captivating audiences and critics around the globe\, he has been hailed as “an international star in the bel canto operatic repertory” (The New York Times)\, “one of the world’s leading bel canto stars” (The Guardian)\, and “one of the most in-demand opera singers in the world today” (NPR). \nIn the 2024-2025 season\, Mr. Brownlee makes his highly anticipated role debut in the title role of Mozart’sMitridate\, re di ponto with Boston Lyric Opera. Cunegonde in Candide is another role that Morley has made her own and has performed in stellar company at LA Opera with James Conlon\, Kelsey Grammer and Christine Ebersole; with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Philadelphia Orchestra with Alek Shrader\, Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan; at the Carnegie Hall Centenary with John Lithgow; and at the Semperoper Dresden with David Butt Philip and Jan Josef Liefers. \nEqually at home on the concert platform\, Morley has performed with leading orchestras such as Cleveland Orchestra\, Chicago Symphony Orchestra\, Philadelphia Orchestra\, Boston Symphony Orchestra\, New York Philharmonic\, LA Philharmonic\, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin\, Staatskapelle Dresden and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. She has collaborated with the Staatskapelle Dresden on tour as well\, again with Maestro Thielemann\, in a program of Strauss Orchesterlieder\, including a world premiere of Thomas Hennig’s “Nacht.” A dedicated recitalist\, Morley’s appearances include collaborations with pianists Vlad Iftinca\, Ken Noda\, Gerald Martin Moore\, and Malcolm Martineau. \nMorley spent her early years studying violin and piano\, and frequently collaborated with her mother\, violinist Elizabeth Palmer. An undergraduate of the Eastman School of Music\, she went on to earn her Master of Music voice degree from The Juilliard School and her Artist Diploma from the Juilliard Opera Center in 2007\, where she received the Florence & Paul DeRosa Prize. Morley also trained at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist\, the Ravinia Festival Steans Institute\, the Wolf Trap Opera Company as a Filene Young Artist\, and the Metropolitan Opera as a Lindemann Young Artist. Taking inspiration from its birthplace\, New York City\, where countless cultures coexist and thrive\, INTERWOVEN celebrates and integrates traditions\, aesthetics and communities from various heritages through performing\, commissioning\, and recording contemporary music. \nThe ensemble made its debut in October 2021 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York City\, with the funding from the City Artist Corps Grant. The group has since appeared in venues such as Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art\, Metropolitan Museum in New York City\, Wing Luke Museum in Seattle\, Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn and Vancouver Civic Centre Annex\, among others. \nINTERWOVEN’s artistic goal is to see evidence of traditional Asian instruments or their sonority included in classical contemporary compositions and an increase in commissioning and performance of multicultural works written by diverse composers. The ensemble promotes the creation of new intercultural music by educating the young composers in universities and by commissioning from established composers who resonate with our beliefs. INTERWOVEN served as a guest artist-in-residence at the University of California Los Angeles\, Toronto University\, Longy School of Music in Massachusetts\, University of Kansas and Colby College in Maine\, working closely with composition and instrumental departments of the school. \nThe group is committed to introducing the sonority of traditional Asian music\, instruments\, history and culture to various American communities of non-Asian heritages. The ensemble received two major fundings for its original community project\, FantAsia!\, from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in New York City and Canada Council for the Arts in 2023; FantAsia! is a musical event of an Asian folklore-inspired program that takes place in neighborhoods with the smallest Asian population in all boroughs of New York City and Vancouver\, BC. \nFounder and GRAMMY Award winning violinist\, Keiko Tokunaga\, brings together seasoned musicians who have been heard in major halls\, such as Carnegie Hall\, the Kennedy Center\, Radio City Music Hall\, and their equivalents in Europe\, Asia\, South America\, and Australia. Members of INTERWOVEN are passionate advocates for the importance of music in social\, personal\, and political developments\, and devote much of their time to teaching and educational outreach. The ensemble collaborates with educational institutions to promote the creations of multicultural musical compositions\, and to encourage active dialogues between students\, faculty and the community on socially crucial topics such as Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion in the music field and beyond.

Sofia has collaborated with groups like the Isthmus Brass and the UW-Madison Wind Ensemble\, and is a founding member of the Slippin’ Slides trombone quartet. Beyond her instrumental skills\, Sofia has developed a repertoire of pieces ranging from classical to jazz\, with her original compositions having been performed by groups including Mr. Chair. \n
