The School of Music Open House is part of the Experience Wisconsin Open House, a full-day visit program where prospective students can learn about a variety of opportunities and resources available at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

Session 1: Introduction to the Mead Witter School of Music and Meet the Faculty
Time: 9:30 am – 10:15 am
Location: Morphy Hall, Mosse Humanities Building

The Mead Witter School of Music will hold a General Information Session hosted by the School of Music’s Undergraduate Admissions Coordinator, Jared Jellison. Topics covered will include School of Music major/degree offerings, application/audition information, and additional general information regarding the School of Music. This session will conclude with a Question & Answer session and opportunities to meet and interact with School of Music faculty. This session will be primarily geared toward prospective music majors; however, non-music major applicants are welcome to attend.

Session 2: Double Majoring in Music at UW–Madison
Time: 10:45 am – 11:30 am
Location: Collins Recital Hall, Hamel Music Center

This session will provide information to students interested in pairing a music degree with another academic degree. Hosted by Undergraduate Advisor Todd Reck, topics will include specifics of the Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Science in Music, and Bachelor of Music, and how these degrees interact with other degree offerings. Students currently double majoring will be on hand to share experiences and answer questions.

Session 3: Meet the Ensemble Conductors
Time: 2:15 pm – 3 pm
Location: Collins Recital Hall, Hamel Music Center

In this session, Mead Witter School of Music ensemble conductors will discuss their ensemble offerings and performance opportunities for students. This session will benefit all students, regardless of major. Information will be available on bands, choirs, orchestras, jazz ensembles, percussion ensembles, and other student performance opportunities. Students currently participating in ensembles will also be available to answer questions.

Session 4: Admissions, Audition Tips, and Careers in Music
Time: 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm
Location: Collins Recital Hall, Hamel Music Center

Intended for students who are committed to majoring or double majoring in music, this session will provide valuable information for preparing your School of Music audition, and strategies and ideas to help on the audition day. Additionally, we will discuss what options you will have upon completion of your music degree. This session will be presented by members of the Mead Witter School of Music admissions staff, as well as faculty.
