SUMMARY:University Symphony Orchestra with Concert Choir & Chorale - Student Ensemble Series
DESCRIPTION:Purchase tickets\n$20 general admission\nStudents free (ticket required) \nThis concert offers a striking contrast of styles and scale. Franz Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass combines dramatic intensity with radiant choral writing\, music of urgency and faith shaped by turbulent times. For this performance\, the Mead Witter School of Music Concert Choir and Chorale will join the University Symphony Orchestra\, all under the baton of Dr. Mariana Farah. The evening will conclude with Richard Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra\, a vast and awe-inspiring tone poem that journeys from primordial darkness to blazing transcendence\, crowned by one of the most iconic openings in all of orchestral music.
