Vanessa Cornett presents “Mindfulness for Musicians”

Explore a variety of secular contemplative traditions including meditative centering and mindfulness-in-action. We will consider some theories of attention and myths about mindfulness and engage in contemplative activities that can be applied to music practice, performance, attentional control, and general well-being.

Performance Anxiety Management for Musicians
Friday, March 31, 2:30 pm – 4 pm
Room 2441 Humanities

Stage fright is a universal challenge for musicians of all ages. Since the body’s natural stress response cannot distinguish a real threat from an imagined one, most musicians experience pre-performance feelings ranging from mild jitters to overwhelming dread. Join us to discover the roots of stage fright and learn some practical solutions for long-term anxiety management.
