He has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra of Santo Domingo\, Jackson Symphony\, Toledo Symphony and Adrian Symphony. He is the founder and co-director of the first Dominican percussion ensemble that combines western and Caribbean musical traditions\, ATEZA’O. Ureña González joined the faculty of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music as a Assistant Professor of Percussion in the Fall of 2023. \nJean Carlo Ureña González\, a native of the Dominican Republic\, began his musical studies at the Elila Mena Music School\, with piano. His teachers include Ben Toth\, Douglas Perkins\, Ian Antonio\, Joseph Gramley\, Jonathan Ovalle\, Thomas Sherwood\, Jeremy Epp\, Shane Shannahan\, Ted Piltzecker\, Cary Kocher\, Rogerio Boccato\, Joe Galeota and John Amira. \nJean Carlo currently serves as the interim president of the Percussive Arts Society’s Dominican Republic chapter.
