French-American conductor Christopher Ocasek is recognized for his rising international career, collaborating with opera companies and orchestras throughout Europe, the UAE, the United States, and Asia. Acclaimed as “a humble conductor with an astounding gift for musical detail and a clear passion on the podium”, Mr. Ocasek is quickly becoming known for his ability to elicit the very best from orchestras and singers.

Ocasek’s continued international collaborations from Washington to San Francisco, Kazakhstan, Armenia, China, Dubai, and mainland Europe keep him in close contact with the who’s who of opera companies and orchestras. He served for three years on conducting staff of the San Francisco Opera and four years on the conducting staff of the Washington National Opera where he collaborated with some of the world’s most exciting voices, conductors, and directors. He was assistant to some of today’s finest French repertoire authorities such as Emmanuel Villaume, Patrick Fournillier, Lawrence Foster, and Philippe Auguin, and has been invited to collaborate with Marilyn Horne and Placido Domingo on operas from Carmen to Thaïs. Mr. Ocasek served five years as music director of the American Repertory Chamber Orchestra (ARCO) in Berlin and as music director of both Chamber Ensemble Wisconsin and the Mozart and More Orchestra, which he took on at the early age of 21.

A strong proponent of mentoring, Ocasek enjoys collaborating with young and developing musicians in performances and masterclasses around the world. He serves on various competition panels and works in an advisory role with artists and institutions. His early training was with conductors David E. Becker and Alexander Jiménez, pianist Martha Fischer, baritone Paul Rowe, and opera conductor and former coach/pianist of Marilyn Horne, Frederica von Stade, Judith Blegen, and Anna Moffo—Douglas Fisher.
