SUMMARY:Janet Lyu\, Heejo Yang\, Jun Lee & Kwanho Song - DMA Chamber Recital
DESCRIPTION:Free | No ticket required\nAlso streaming live \nDMA Chamber Recital \nJanet Lyu\, violin\nHeejo Yang\, viola\nJun Lee\, cello\nKwanho Song\, piano \n…… \nProgram \nPiano Quartet in A major\, op. 30       Ernest Chausson (1855-1899) \nIntermission \nPiano Quartet no. 1 in g minor\, op. 25       Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) \n…… \nThis recital is a joint effort of four doctoral students at the Mead Witter School of Music. Janet\, Heejo\, Jun\, and Kwanho are all of Korean descent and became friends through that common thread. \nAs a joint recital between the four students where each will fulfill a degree-required recital credit in the same afternoon\, the instrumentation required them to find two contrasting piano quartets. Ernest Chausson’s breathtaking opus 30 was written only two years before his untimely death and arguably has one of the best second movements to exist in piano quartet repertoire. Johannes Brahms’ opus 25 was premiered in Hamburg by none other than his most important interpreter and the object of his unrequited love\, Clara Schumann. \nThis ambitious yet auspicious program aims to showcase the Korean talent at the Mead Witter School of Music and present a most wonderful labor of love for piano chamber music.
