The Alumni Association of the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Music, welcomes and encourages all who share its goals to its membership. The following statements give a brief overview of the Association's purpose, goals, and activities.
Mission Statement
The mission of the UW-Madison School of Music Alumni Association (SOMAA) is to support and strengthen the educational effectiveness of the School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and to maintain a close spirit of cooperation and communication between the alumni and the School of Music.
Vision Statement
The vision of SOMAA is to contribute to the lifelong musical and collegial benefits of students and alumni of the School of Music, and society as a whole. It will maximize its impact in accord with the School of Music goals and objectives.
Membership
We invite all graduates, former students, and faculty members of the UW - Madison School of Music and all individuals who wish to support the UW-Madison School of Music. Membership dues are $25.00 per year, with a life membership available for $400.00. The membership year runs from January to January.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of 17 directors. Fifteen are elected by the current membership, and two are appointed. One of the appointed members is a current faculty member of the School of Music. The second is a student in a degree program in the School of Music. These two members are appointed annually. The fifteen elected members of the Board serve three-year terms, with five elected each year. Each member may serve no more than two consecutive terms. The current Board members elect officers.

2010: $50,000 SOMAA Scholarship Endowment Fund Base
Dear School of Music Alumni,
It is hard to believe, but until 2002, there was no music alumni
scholarship to the School of Music - imagine, no concerted alumni
support! In the past four years, the SOMAA has worked hard to fill that
void, and we continue to need your support!
We are happy to report that you and your fellow music alumni have made
possible four $10,000 SOM scholarships, and over $20,000 in seed money
toward the scholarship endowment fund.
We know our fund drive is one of several options you have to support
the School of Music; that is why we are focused on a Freshman
Scholarship. With the ever-rising competition from other prestigious
schools, it is vital to keep the SOM competitive for talented students.
We hope you see the value, as we do, in supporting freshman
recruitment.
